Breast Lift Surgery - What You Should Know About It

One of the common cosmetic surgery is breast lift surgery which is also known as mastopexy. Breast lift surgery is a complex breast improvement procedure that lift and re-shape sagging or drooping breasts. The breast lifting can be done with the insertion of breast implants or without it. It will all depend on the anatomical factors and the requirements of a patient.

Only 1 treatment is needed for the breast lift and the result is long lasting. The breast lift surgery will take about 2 to 4 hours to perform. The surgery can be done using local anesthesia or general anesthesia in a surgical suite or in a hospital.

The length and the number of incisions for the breast lift surgery will normally be determined by the extent of the breast lift. So the more breast lift a patient require, the more incisions she will have. So, if a patient who require considerable lift, she is most likely will not be a suitable periareolar incision candidate. She will be an anchor incision candidate.

The periareolar incisions are among most well-known incisions which surgeons used to put in implants during a breast augmentation. The incision, made at the surrounding edge of the patient’s nipple where the nipple meet the adjoining breast tissue. The scarring from a periareolar incision is almost unseen, because it merges well with the natural skin color transformations.

There are 3 incisions which form an anchor shape (thus the term ‘anchor incision’) in one breast lift surgical technique.

1. The initial incision is made around the areola and extending above it and this will create new location for the nipple.

2. The second incision is made vertically, right from the nipple and down to the base of the breast.

3. And the third incision is made underneath the breast just on top of the fold below the breast. These incisions will create flaps whereby the surplus skin shall be removed.

The surplus skin could also be removed because the areola and the nipple have been located to an upper location on the breast. The position of the nipple is usually placed it shall be vertically even with the lower crease in between the chest and the breast.

The skin which was before located on top of the nipple is then moved down to the surrounding of the nipple and sewn up beneath the breast. The areola and the nipple stay attached to the underlying breast tissue, the related nerve and blood supply thus reducing the odds of sensation loss.

Certain patients, different techniques may be suitable which could include the omission of the horizontal incision alongside the breast bottom therefore reducing the number of scar after the breast lift surgery.

A woman who has small breast and small degree of droopiness, a circle series of incisions may be used for her breast lift surgery, which with this method, the horizontal and vertical incisions are omitted.

This is a great resource for someone looking to get a breast lift or augmentation. I did a lot of research to see what would be best for me. I came across a doctor in Ohio who preforms a laser bra. After a consultation, I knew this would be perfect for me. The Laser bra is like a brassiere that is made from your own tissue and creates a youthful, attractive breast that has longer lasting support than a breast lift.

Maybe this could be your next topic? A lot of people have not heard about this.
